Overview

Fairgrove was founded durring the late 13th century in fall of the year 1157, by Vúr Yó̄̋ch 'Bella Anna' Yóńnv Ga̋mēr Vúoī Spackman. The establishment of Fairgrove was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Vúr Yó̄̋ch 'Bella Anna' Yóńnv Ga̋mēr Vúoī Spackman struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Fairgrove as a prison colony.

Fairgrove was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Fairgrove is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Fairgrove is buildings are arranged arround a network of spacious paverstone streets which form a diamond shaped grid, where each diamond verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller diamond has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town emploies a series of defencive earthworks, spikes, and fences to provide some protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. Fairgrove's minimaly adiquite are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the town as needed.

Fairgrove is not quite well. Something happened here, perhapse recently, perhapse long ago. Whatever it was, it settled into the very soul of the town like a festering wound. The people go about their day well enough, but there’s a tention in the air you can cut with a knife. There’s a patern to the panic. It’s not easy to see, and no one quite agrees on what it is, but the locals know and operate under this pattern. It shapes everything they do, and you feel as if you’ve almost worked it out only for some small detail to devastate your theory every time you try and comprehend it.

Cultural Notes

Two or more groups of citizens within Fairgrove hate each other. Their neighbors or the local law have kept things from too-overt violence, but members of the groups will constantly interfere with their rivals and cause whatever misery they can get away with. This hate may spring from recent events, or it may be an inherited spite from old wrongs.

Fairgrove's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by grandeur of scale, simplicity of geometric forms, dramatic use of columns, and a preference for blank walls. This design ethos extended to re-imagining earlier styles of structure to create them anew, with a similar overall look and feel to one another..

Due to the actions of local Kami, summer is long in Fairgrove.

The Spider, Assassin (Giant) near Fairgrove are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.
